Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to join our orthopaedic team at Ormskirk and Southport Hospitals. The successful candidate will work across both sites, with the primary base being at Ormskirk Hospital assessing and treating elective orthopaedic patients, with opportunity to work with trauma patients on both the Southport site and in the post-operative care ward in Ormskirk.
You will join a supportive and friendly team, with opportunities for professional development, close managerial support, and an opportunity to be involved in service change and improvement.
This post is an excellent opportunity for experienced Band 5s or current Band 6s looking to develop their leadership skills and specialist clinical skills in an inpatient orthopaedic setting. There are opportunities to contribute to the development of the service in both the elective and trauma orthopaedics pathways.
The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills within the trauma and orthopaedic field, be able to communicate effectively and have good organisational and time management skills.
This is a Band 6 Physiotherapy post, working 37.5 hrs per week. There is a requirement to cover weekends and bank holidays on a rota, and the post is part of the Trust's on call respiratory rota.
Main duties of the job
The ability to work both individually and as a member of a team and to prioritise a busy workload is a key requirement of this post. Previous experience within this area is essential. A minimum of 18 months post graduate experience is preferable.
You will be expected to support student placements with the opportunity to gain a clinical educator qualification if needed.
A robust supervision and in-service training programme will ensure you are supported throughout your time with us. CPD and all training opportunities are actively encouraged to ensure your personal objectives and clinical development are achieved.
The team delivers inpatient and outpatient services across Ormskirk and Southport sites providing an excellent service for both elective and trauma patients.
A flexible approach to day to day tasks is essential, in order to meet the demands of the service.

The successful candidate will:
The post holder will be required to take part in the departmental emergency adult on-call respiratory rota and will need to possess relevant respiratory competency skills. Have a working knowledge of a broad range of conditions with proven clinical skills in this specialist area
Deliver a high standard of evidence based care
Be confident in their assessment skills and be able to make prompt clinically based decisions.
Participate in the discharge planning process; including making recommendations about individual rehabilitation needs and discharge/placement requirements.
Supervise therapy assistants; rotational Physiotherapists and students on clinical placement within the specialty
Have evidence of relevant post graduate training.
Have the ability to work flexibly and adaptably to changing working patterns
Will be proactive in identifying areas for, and actively contributing to audit, benchmarking and service development
