Job summary
We're delighted to offer an exciting part time (30 hours) opportunity for a Specialist Dietitian to join Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) in the North Yorkshire & York locality on a 12 month maternity cover contract.
You'll provide high quality inpatient dietetic care across two wards at Foss Park Hospital (York) and one ward at Springwood Hospital (Malton), supporting older adults with functional conditions (e.g., depression, psychosis) and organic conditions (e.g., vascular dementia, Alzheimer's dementia).
You'll work closely with a dietitian and an AHP assistant who are also based at Foss Park and a lead dietitian who is based at Cross Lane Hospital in Scarborough.
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role
Main duties of the job
Deliver comprehensive inpatient dietetic assessment and interventions tailored to complex needs across MHSOP wards at Foss Park and Springwood Provide specialist input for a broad range of presentations, including functional and organic diagnoses. Provide clinical supervision and support for AHP assistant and band 5 dietitian. Contribute to service development, audit, research activities, and pathway development to improve nutritional care outcomes.Deliver training to multidisciplinary clinical teams and facilitate student training/placements. Work collaboratively within the MDT to ensure person centred, evidence based nutrition support aligned to national guidance. Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, governance, and professional practice.

Our Dietetic Team is the largest and most established Specialist Mental Health and Learning Disability dietetic team in the UK and has strong links with the British Dietetic Association. Our Dietitians work into Adult Eating disorders, Adult Mental Health, Children and Adolescent Mental Health and Eating Disorders, Adult Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Services for Older People and Secure Inpatient Services. We are supported by our Professional Head of Dietetics and have a large group of highly skilled Clinical Specialist and Lead Dietitians.
We have regular speciality team meetings to develop skills and provide peer support and can provide training and support to engage with the complex needs of the patient group. We have a robust clinical and management supervision structure and support continued professional training and development.

Qualifications Essential
Appropriate professional qualification in Dietetics Current relevant registration with specific regulatory body

Post graduate training in relevant specialist area
Experience Essential
Minimum 12 months post qualifying experience of Dietetic delivery /completion of AYSE for social work (post 2012) pre 2012 evidence of experience in accordance with professional capabilities framework for an experienced social worker

Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team
Knowledge Essential
Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
