About this role

We're looking for a Sr. System Engineer - Power Electronics to join our engineering team in Farmington Hills, United States. In this senior role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced power electronics systems for demanding industrial and automotive applications. You will combine your deep technical expertise with analytical rigor to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation in power conversion technologies. Design, develop, and optimize power electronics systems including DC-DC converters, AC-DC rectifiers, and inverter topologiesConduct detailed circuit analysis and perform simulations using industry-standard tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and SimulinkLead technical projects from concept through production, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and quality standardsPerform comprehensive testing, validation, and troubleshooting of power electronics hardware and control systemsAnalyze thermal management requirements and implement effective cooling strategies to ensure system reliabilityDevelop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and system architecture diagramsCollaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless system integrationMentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellenceEnsure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirementsEvaluate and recommend power semiconductor devices and components based on performance, cost, and reliability criteria **Required Qualifications:**

8+ years of professional experience in power electronics design and developmentStrong expertise in power conversion systems, including DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, and invertersProficiency with circuit simulation and design tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, and PCB design softwareSolid understanding of power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes) and their applicationsExperience with thermal analysis, thermal management, and reliability engineeringDemonstrated ability to conduct system-level integration and hardware testingExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detailStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience with technical documentation and design specification developmentProficiency in communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences**Preferred Qualifications:**

Experience designing power electronics systems for automotive or industrial applicationsFamiliarity with power quality standards and EMI/EMC compliance requirementsBackground in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time simulationExperience with power factor correction (PFC) and energy efficiency optimizationProven track record of mentoring and leading technical teamsKnowledge of control systems and feedback loop design for power electronicsExperience with industry standards such as IEC, ISO, and automotive-specific requirements Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only.
