Why This Role Matters
The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of plant and equipment operations. This includes enforcing HSE standards and promoting a strong safety culture, overseeing plant allocation and utilisation, implementing maintenance programmes, managing technical resources and spare parts, leading workshop teams, and coordinating with project, procurement, and logistics teams. The role also involves monitoring performance and costs, optimising operational efficiency, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning activities to meet project requirements.
What You’ll Drive
Health, Safety & Compliance (Safety First)
Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards, company procedures, and Life Saving RulesEnsure all plant is certified, compliant, and safe for operationConduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessmentsPromote a “Safety First” culture across plant operationsPlant & Equipment Management
Manage the allocation, mobilisation, and demobilisation of plant and equipment across projectEnsure optimal utilisation and availability of plant resources in line with project requirementsMaintain an accurate and up-to-date plant inventory and tracking systemAnalyse utilisation rates and implement optimisation initiativesMaintenance & Technical Management
Ensure implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance programmesCoordinate with technical teams to guarantee equipment suitabilityMonitor equipment performance, downtime, and repair historyEnsure availability of spare parts and manage technical procurement needsTeam Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead and manage workshop teams, and techniciansDefine clear objectives and performance expectationsDevelop team competencies and ensure adequate staffing levelsMaintain strong coordination with internal departments and external suppliersResource Planning & Coordination
Coordinate plant requirements with project teamsSupport project planning with accurate plant forecasting and mobilisation schedulesLiaise with procurement and logistics for timely delivery and relocation of equipmentEnsure alignment between workforce planning and equipment needsCost Control & Performance Monitoring
Monitor plant-related costs (rental, maintenance, fuel, logistics, depreciation)Implement cost optimisation strategies and efficiency improvementsPrepare regular reports on plant performance, utilisation, and costContribute to budgeting and forecasting activities You’re a Great Fit If You Have
Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in plant/equipment management within construction or industrial environmentExperience in large-scale projects (infrastructure, marine) preferredFluent in English, knowledge of Portuguese, Dutch and/or French preferred.Technical Diploma or Bachelor Degree in electro/mechanical engineering or in automobile engineeringStrong knowledge of marine equipment, heavy equipment, maintenance systems, and safety standardsStrong leadership skillsWhy You’ll Enjoy Working with Us
