About this role
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Oracle technologies and solid knowledge of other database platforms. The role focuses on the administration, evolution, and migration of enterprise database environments, supporting critical applications and transformation initiatives across the organization.
Your key tasks
Administer Oracle Database environments as the primary technology, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle managementManage and support additional database platforms such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL solutionsExecute and coordinate database migration projects, including cross-version upgrades, platform migrations, cloud migrations, and database consolidation initiativesPlan and perform migrations from on-premise to cloud-based database services, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, or AzureSupport heterogeneous migration scenarios between different database technologies, ensuring data consistency, performance, and minimal service disruptionImplement and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and equivalent technologies for other platformsDefine and execute backup, restore, and recovery procedures across multiple database systemsMonitor and optimize database performance, capacity, storage, and resource utilizationTroubleshoot incidents, performance bottlenecks, replication issues, and database-related application problemsCollaborate with infrastructure, application, and project teams to design database solutions aligned with business and technical requirementsProduce technical documentation, operational procedures, migration plans, and handover materialContribute to automation and standardization initiatives for database provisioning, patching, and deployment 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with strong focus on Oracle DatabaseSolid hands-on experience with Oracle Database administration in enterprise environmentsGood knowledge of at least one additional database technology, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or MongoDBProven experience in database migration activities, including upgrades, platform changes, and cloud migration projectsStrong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, business continuity, and disaster recovery conceptsExperience with performance tuning, SQL optimization, and troubleshooting of complex database issuesGood understanding of Linux/Unix environments and scripting for automationFamiliarity with database security, access control, and auditing principlesAbility to work effectively in project-based environments and coordinate with multiple stakeholdersStrong communication skills in English We realize that managing work life balance is a challenge we all face in our daily lives and in order to support with this we are pleased to offer hybrid and flexible working for most of our Avaloqers to maintain work life balance and still continue our fantastic Avaloq culture in our global offices.
