About this role

The Weight Room Student Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of the weight room

and fitness facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons. This role

involves monitoring equipment use, enforcing facility policies, responding to emergencies, and

providing basic guidance to patrons on safe workout practices.

Key Responsibilities

Open and/or close the weight room according to posted hours, including equipmentsetup and shutdown proceduresMonitor patron activity to ensure safe and proper use of free weights, machines, and cardio equipmentCheck IDs and verify eligibility for facility access per university policyEnforce facility rules and policiesPerform regular walkthroughs of the space to identify safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment, or maintenance needsWipe down and organize equipment throughout shifts; oversee general cleanliness of the facilityRespond promptly and appropriately to injuries, accidents, or emergencies, including administering first aid/CPR when certified and contacting emergency services as neededProvide basic guidance to patrons on equipment usage and proper form upon requestReport equipment damage, safety concerns, or policy violations to full-time staffMaintain accurate records (e.g., incident reports, attendance logs, equipment checklists)Assist with special events, facility reservations, or program support as neededCompensation and Benefits

Rate of Pay: $16.45/hourMinnesota Sick and Safe TimeMinnesota Paid Family and Medical LeaveNot eligible for health insurance benefits

Required:

Currently enrolled as a student at the university Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for the duration of shiftsReliable, punctual, and able to work independentlyComfortable enforcing rules and addressing policy violations professionallyCurrent CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within a specifiedtimeframe)Work Schedule:

Shifts vary based on facility hours and staffing needs, including early mornings, evenings, andweekends. Typical commitment: 15-20 hours per week.Monday-Thursday: 6pm-9:00pmFriday: 5:00-8:00pm All student applicants must attach the following for consideration:
