Role Overview
The Pavement Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and evaluation of airfield pavements, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with international and national aviation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design of flexible and rigid pavements for:RunwaysTaxiwaysApronsPerform pavement design using:FAA / ICAO / DGCA guidelinesConduct:Pavement thickness designOverlay designRehabilitation strategiesAnalyze:Traffic loading (aircraft mix & frequency)Subgrade characteristicsUse software/tools such as:FAARFIELDCOMFAAAASHTO methodsReview geotechnical reports and integrate inputs into pavement designPrepare:Design reportsTechnical notesDrawings & BOQsCoordinate with:Structural / Geotechnical / Airport plannersProvide technical support during:Construction & execution phaseConduct site investigations and coordinate field testing activities to validate design assumptions and subgrade conditionsPerform quality assurance reviews and verify compliance with design standards, specifications, and regulatory requirementsDevelop cost estimates and budget recommendations for pavement design and rehabilitation projectsEvaluate sustainability and environmental considerations in pavement design, including material selection and lifecycle assessmentPrepare maintenance and performance monitoring recommendations to optimize long-term pavement durabilityCommunicate design findings and recommendations to stakeholders through technical presentations and documentation Qualification
B.Tech / M.Tech in Civil EngineeringSpecialization in Transportation / Pavement Engineering preferredExperience Requirement
Minimum 8+ years in pavement designExperience in airport / airfield pavement projects preferredExposure to:Runway / taxiway / apron designInternational codes (FAA / ICAO) Key Skills
