About the role

As an Acoustician at AFRY, you will work with a broad range of projects within building acoustics and environmental noise. You will be involved from early-stage studies and concept development through detailed design and construction.

Your work may include:

Building acoustics and acoustic design of residential, office, educational, healthcare and public buildingsEnvironmental noise assessments related to road and rail traffic, industry and urban developmentAcoustic calculations, modelling and simulationsNoise mapping and predictionEvaluation of acoustic measurementsDevelopment of acoustic solutions, strategies and mitigation measuresPreparation of technical specificationsProviding expert advice to project teamsYou will have the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle and develop your expertise in the areas where you can create the greatest value.

You will be part of a collaborative team where knowledge and experience are actively shared across offices. We are looking for an open-minded and collaborative acoustic engineer who enjoys working with colleagues from different backgrounds, disciplines and levels of experience. You combine strong technical competence with curiosity, a willingness to share knowledge and an interest in developing both yourself and those around you.

We believe you have:

A university degree in acoustics, engineering, physics, building physics or a related field5+ years of professional experience as an acoustician or acoustic consultantSolid experience in building acoustics and/or environmental noiseExperience of acoustic calculations, modelling and technical analysisExperience working in multidisciplinary construction or infrastructure projectsThe ability to communicate complex acoustic issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersA structured and independent way of workingStrong written and spoken English

Experience in building acoustics within healthcare projects is particularly valuable.

Experience with software such as SoundPLAN, CadnaA, CadnaB, SONArchitect, INSUL, Bastian, Odeon, Treble, Rhino/Grasshopper, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM is an advantage. Experience with equivalent tools is also highly relevant.

Knowledge of Swedish acoustic standards and regulations is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.

Knowledge and experience within the following areas are particularly valuable:

Façade and window sound insulation calculations with respect to road and rail traffic noiseAirborne sound insulation calculations between roomsImpact sound insulation calculations between roomsPreparation of drawings and documentation specifying acoustic requirements for walls, glazed partitions and doorsSound transmission calculations between rooms, including break-in and break-out noise through ventilation ductsNoise assessment of air handling units and ventilation fan systemsRoom acoustic simulations and calculations, including reverberation time and Speech Transmission Index (STI). You will join a team in Stockholm with deep expertise in acoustics, sound and vibration and a strong connection to the wider engineering organisation at AFRY. Our work spans buildings, urban development, infrastructure, transport, industry and energy, allowing acoustics to be integrated with other engineering disciplines from the early stages of a project.
