About this role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Team Leader – PMC (Site Level) to lead on-site execution of transmission lines, substations (AIS/GIS), and renewable energy integration projects.

The role acts as the Owner’s Representative at site, responsible for day-to-day coordination, supervision, and control of EPC contractors, ensuring that project execution aligns with approved designs, quality standards, HSE requirements, and project schedules.

The Team Leader will lead and coordinate Electrical, Civil & Structural, I&C, QA/QC, and HSE site teams, ensuring seamless execution, interface management, and timely commissioning.

Core Strength

Strong capability in end-to-end project ownership from engineering validation, site execution, construction monitoring, and contractor billing to testing, commissioning, and statutory compliance while maintaining a zero-incident safety culture and strict quality benchmarks. Recognized for strong stakeholder coordination, vendor management, and operational discipline, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in line with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Execution Leadership

Lead day-to-day site activities for substations, transmission lines, and associated infrastructureEnsure execution as per approved drawings, specifications, and construction methodologiesCoordinate closely with EPC contractors to achieve planned milestones and targetsMaintain site-level look-ahead plans (weekly/monthly) and monitor progress2. Multi-Disciplinary Coordination (On-Site)

Direct and coordinate site teams comprising:Electrical Engineers (Substation, Transmission, Protection)Civil & Structural Engineers (foundations, GIS buildings, cable cellars, tower works)I&C Engineers (SCADA, SAS, communication systems)QA/QC and HSE teamsEnsure all disciplines work in integrated manner with proper interface managementResolve site-level engineering and execution issues in coordination with design teams3. Contractor Supervision & Billing Control

Supervise EPC contractor activities for compliance with scope, quality, safety, and timelinesVerify and certify:RA bills and measurementsWork completion and milestone achievementsMonitor resource deployment, material utilization, and site productivityIdentify delays and implement corrective and recovery actions4. Quality Assurance & Control (Site Implementation)

Ensure implementation of Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)Conduct and supervise:Incoming material inspectionsStage inspections and testing activitiesEnsure compliance with technical specifications, standards (IS/IEC), and approved drawingsTrack and close non-conformances (NCRs)5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Enforcement

Enforce zero-harm safety culture across all site activitiesEnsure adherence to approved HSE plans, method statements, and statutory requirementsConduct daily safety briefings, site inspections, and auditsMonitor high-risk activities such as:Working at height (tower erection)Heavy lifting (transformers/reactors)Electrical energization works6. Construction Supervision

Supervise construction of:AIS/GIS substations up to 765 kV (including GIS buildings and cable cellars)HV/EHV/UHV/HVDC Transmission lines (tower erection, stringing, stub foundations)Renewable pooling substations and evacuation systemsEnsure proper execution of critical equipment installation and alignmentMonitor civil-electrical interface activities7. Renewable Integration & Grid Interface (Site Level)

Coordinate site activities related to solar/wind/BESS integration with substationsEnsure readiness of SCADA/SAS systems and communication interfacesSupport grid connectivity requirements and inspections by utilities (SLDC/RLDC)8. Stakeholder Coordination (Site Interface)

Act as site focal point for:Client representativesEPC contractors and vendorsLocal authorities and inspectorsConduct daily/weekly progress meetings and coordination reviewsEscalate critical issues to project management in timely manner9. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

Prepare and submit:Daily Progress Reports (DPR)Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports (WPR/MPR)Track physical progress vs schedule and identify slippagesMaintain site records, logs, and documentation10. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

Coordinate and supervise:Pre-commissioning checks and testingEquipment energization and commissioning activitiesEnsure readiness for grid synchronization and performance testingVerify as-built drawings, punch points, and handover documentation Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical EngineeringExperience: Minimum 12–18 years in power sector (EPC/PMC/site execution roles)Experience in:Substations up to 220 kV / 400 kV / ±500 kV / 765 kV / ±800 kVTransmission lines and renewable integration projectsSite execution and contractor managementTechnical & Professional Skills
