Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of hydropower and pumped storage projects. The role involves detailed design and coordination of electro-mechanical (E&M) systems including turbines, generators, balance of plant (BOP), and associated electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed designs for electro-mechanical systems in hydropower and pumped storage projects
Prepare specifications, design calculations, and technical drawings for:Turbines (Francis, Pelton, Kaplan, reversible pump-turbines)Generators and excitation systemsTransformers, switchgear, and protection systemsBalance of plant systems (cooling water, drainage, compressed air, HVAC)Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project requirementsCoordinate between mechanical and electrical disciplines for integrated system designEnsure compatibility between turbine-generator systems and grid requirementsSupport interface management between civil, hydro-mechanical, and E&M componentsPrepare technical reports, design basis documents, BOQs, and tender specificationsSupport preparation of bid documents and technical evaluationsEnsure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO, etc.)Provide engineering support during manufacturing, installation, and commissioningReview FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SAT (Site Acceptance Tests)Assist in troubleshooting and performance optimizationInteract with OEMs, consultants, and contractorsEvaluate vendor proposals and participate in technical negotiationsCoordinate with project management teams to ensure timely deliveryKey Skills
Knowledge of hydropower technologies and pumped storage schemesUnderstanding of power systems, protection schemes, and grid integrationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsGood communication and coordination skillsExperience with reversible pump-turbines and variable speed machinesKnowledge of transient analysis, load flow, and stability studiesFamiliarity with SCADA and control systemsExperience working on international projects
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electro-Mechanical EngineeringStrong understanding of hydropower plant systems Required Experience
