AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer to be based in our Rocky Hill, CT office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.
This position is expected to begin June 2027, but that date is flexible.
Job Overview:
The Entry-Level Environmental Engineer will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with site investigation, design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water remediation programs, data analysis, remediation construction and program management, and report preparation. This role is approximately 60% field and 40% office.
Our teams work on complex remediation projects, accessing the right resources from across the company to support project needs. The job responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
Project field and office support for site assessment and remediation projects.Site visits at industrial, federal, commercial, and municipal client facilitiesData collection and analysis for environmental compliance and sustainability. Compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Environmental sampling (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, stormwater, wastewater, air, and hazardous waste) Development of technical memoranda and reportsBuilding analytic and engineering design skills under the supervision of an experienced engineerUse of computer software (e.g. CAD, GIS, data analysis tools) as a tool for solving basic engineering problemsPerforming work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervisionLocal travel is likely and U.S travel possible and project dependent.Field work in locations as appropriate (approximately 60%). Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field + 0 years of related experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationValid US Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass the AECOM Motor Vehicle screeningDue to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is requiredPosition requires frequent traveling to field locations in personal vehicle. Locations and distances vary and could include occasional overnight travel and operation of rental vehicle. Frequently lifting, carrying, and loading equipment such as sample coolers, without assistance up to 50lbs.Preferred Qualifications:
General knowledge of basic engineering, chemistry, and environmental sciencesExperience and/or demonstrated interest in environmental remediationProficiency in standard Microsoft Office suite software applicationsAbility to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employeesAbility to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise mannerAbility to learn through on-the-job experienceTolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditionsAbility to work independently, both in an office environment and in the fieldOSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER CertificationAbility to travel locally, including occasional extended travelPrevious experience operating a full-size pickup truck or large sport utility vehicleMechanical aptitude is strongly desiredPassing Engineering-in-Training (FE) test is strongly recommended Relocation is not available for this positionSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this positionAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
