Job summary
Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible and committed Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in general and urology imaging to our cohesive, hard-working and friendly team. The BHNFT Medical Imaging Team includes Consultant Radiologists, radiology specialty doctors, radiology residents, consultant mammographers and Advanced Practitioners and provides a comprehensive imaging service. The trust is rated as good by the CQC with performance benchmarked well within the top quartile of acute trusts by NHSE.

Responsibilities would include augmenting and enhancing urology services delivered by Medical Imaging, support of general imaging services with colleagues and MDT support.
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the general radiology workflow, audit, quality improvement, MDT work, teaching, and general on-call rota (1 in 8). Teleradiology cover the acute MR service from 17:00-20:00 on weekdays and 08:00 20:00 at weekends and the acute CT service from 20:00 08:30.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Services
To provide an effective diagnostic radiology service to primary and secondary care alongside consultant colleagues including responsibility for the investigation of conditions on referral and the proper functioning of the department.
Participation of all consultants performing diagnostic general radiology in an emergency on-call out-of-hours service, currently on a 1:8 rota in conjunction with consultant colleagues.
Training & Education
To contribute to the teaching of other grades of staff, both within and outside the department, including medical staff, nurses, paramedical staff, and scientific and technical staff.
To contribute to postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
To contribute to appraisal of junior medical staff in accordance with guidelines from the Royal College of Radiologists and the Postgraduate Dean.
Clinical Governance
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate continuing improvements to the quality of service provided within the framework of the Trusts Clinical Governance arrangements, including:
Participation in the development of a satisfactory and consistent quality service by establishing appropriate systems, agreeing standards and ensuring that standards are met.
Participation in clinical audit, undertaking audit on a regular basis and ensuring that audit findings are acted upon and, where necessary, changes made to service delivery to improve and enhance patient care.
