About this role

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and adaptable Casual Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our team at Lumino Whangarei.

This varied role combines front-of-house reception duties with chairside dental assisting support with some front-of-house reception, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As a casual team member, you'll provide support where needed, helping to ensure our patients receive an outstanding experience from the moment they walk through our doors.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting clinicians during a variety of dental proceduresPreparing treatment rooms and assisting with infection control proceduresSterilising instruments and maintaining a clean clinical environmentUpdating patient records and completing administrative tasks accuratelyWorking collaboratively with the wider team to ensure the smooth operation of the practiceGreeting and welcoming patients in a warm and professional mannerManaging appointments, phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Previous dental assisting experience is advantageous but not essentialPrevious reception, administration, or customer service experienceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organisational skills and attention to detailA positive attitude and willingness to learnThe ability to work well independently and as part of a teamConfidence using computer systems and learning new technologyA reliable, flexible, and professional approach to workValid New Zealand work rightsThe ability to commute easily to Whangarei or be based locally At Lumino, we are committed to investing in our people and creating a positive workplace culture.
