Job DescriptionChariot is a charitable payments company that's revolutionizing the philanthropic financial system. We believe more money needs to move to nonprofits faster so we are building tools that activate more philanthropic dollars and transform nonprofit operations to be more efficient. We're looking for top talent to join our mission driven team in changing the financial landscape of philanthropy.
We are currently backed by Y Combinator, Spark Capital, SV Angel, and top-tier angel investors like Mike Massaro, Adam Grant, and Angela Duckworth. Our team is made up of passionate and talented individuals with prior work experience at Blackrock, Bain, Goldman Sachs, Palantir, and Forage (YC21).
We are entering an exciting phase of growth moving hundreds of million dollars per month and expanding our team to bring tens of thousands of nonprofits onboard while expanding our product capabilities to solve even deeper problems for the nonprofit sector. Mitigating risk is essential to that growth; this seat is where it ultimately lives.
Risk & Security
Own Chariot's risk surface end to end: technological, security/infra, fraud, and product risk
Build and maintain a living catalog of Chariot's risk exposure that stays current, not a spreadsheet that goes stale
Partner closely with engineering to pressure-test our core payment flows: where they break, what the blast radius is, and how we mitigate it
Understand our product and technology deeply enough to see risks around the corner and get ahead of them, rather than reacting after the fact
Systems & Monitoring
Stand up a proactive monitoring and mitigation cadence across the risk surface
Bring first-principles, systems-level thinking to how we identify, prioritize, and close risk gaps
Build on and formalize existing interim risk and compliance coverage rather than duplicating it
Strategic
Sit at the leadership table: brief leadership regularly on the top risks facing the business, prioritized from first principles, each with a mitigation plan
Partner with Product and Engineering so new features ship with risk accounted for, without slowing velocity
👤 About You5+ years in risk, fraud, trust & safety, or a related operating role, ideally at a fintech, payments, or marketplace company
First-principles and systems thinker with genuine technical and product depth
Detail oriented with excellent written/verbal communication skills
Proactive with strong people skills and ability to influence internal and Engineering/Product stakeholders
Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-moving, cross-functional team environment
Team player with an ownership mindset and an eagerness to take on more work whenever possible
Relentlessly curious about how our product and technology work, with a proactive instinct to map out everything that could go wrong
📚 What you’ll get from ChariotAt Chariot, we are building modern, end-to-end payment infrastructure making donors' lives easier, and nonprofits' lives better. $600B gets donated to charity each year in the US and the existing technology/infrastructure was still built for our grandparents generation. Chariot is here to change that.
Traction. Annualizing over $1.8B in payment volume through Chariot. Tens of thousands of nonprofits already onboarded including American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and University of Pennsylvania.
Impact: That money services nonprofits working in homelessness, health, education, the environment, and so much more.
