Main duties of the job

We'relooking for someone:

To work withchildren and young people (aged 0-19)inbothour early yearsclinicandwithin mainstream schools in the Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey area.

Keen to exploreother specialisms including complex needs.

This is a fixed term, term full time post but we are happy to consider flexible working proposals.

The small print

Informal visits can be arranged on request. We will offer you the choice of two pension schemes; the NHS Pension scheme and the scottish widows group pension scheme. MCH is considering merging with Kent Community Health Foundation Trust (KCHFT). If the merger goes ahead, the proposed transfer date is 30th September 2026 and this role will be subject to TUPE transfer to KCHFT.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnosing and assessingchildren with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Delivering therapy for a range ofchildren with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Designing,monitoringand evaluating targets and plans for children.

Delivering parent education through workshops.

Providing specialist advice and support to parents,teachersand other professionals.

You willbe requiredto travel between the clinic, nurseries and schools and must be able to do soin a timely manner.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent. Registered with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) - License to Practice Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT)

Experience Essential

Experience of wide range of clinical settings and communication difficulties at undergraduate/post graduate level Experience of working in paediatrics at undergraduate/post graduate level.

Desirable

Experience of managing a caseload.

Skills Essential

Experience of using Microsoft Office Programmes including; Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.

Desirable

Experience of using electronic notes

Knowledge Essential

Well established knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group Well established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.

Desirable

Member of clinical excellence group (CEN) and or Post graduate training in relevant areas.
