Job summary

We are pleased to advertise an exciting opportunity to join NHS Resolutions Early Notification (EN) team, working within the Safety and Learning Directorate, as a EN Regional Lead on a permanent basis. The post is available from August 2026, and the post holder will cover the Midlands and East of England Regions.

Since its launch in April 2017, the EN Scheme has played a vital role in maternity care. All maternity services are required to notify NHS Resolution of incidents where there is potential for a severe brain injury. The schemes aims are to:

Investigate potential eligibility for compensation, taking proactive steps to reduce legal costs and improve the experience for families and staff.Share learning quickly with individual trusts and across the wider system to support safety improvements and prevent recurrence.Build on our Saying Sorry and Being Fair work, ensuring that openness, candour and learning are never barriers to obtaining compensation.Improve the process of obtaining compensation for families, meeting needs in real time wherever possible and reducing the risk of claims escalating unnecessarily.

Main duties of the job

This is a unique opportunity to contribute your clinical expertise at a national level, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and leaders in maternity/perinatal care. The role includes providing leadership and line management to rotating EN clinical fellows (Neonatal, Obstetric, Midwifery)/EN clinical coordinator.

Reviewing case files to provide clinical opinion, giving feedback to support system-wide learning from claims, working to set objectives which will contribute to the day to day running of the EN scheme, and organisational objectives/business plan. You will also represent NHS Resolution at external meetings with partner organisations, and attend local, regional, and national events.

Be responsible for the clinical workload within a region in England, and work closely with S&L leads/associates to deliver programmes of work Demonstrate sound leadership skills and line manage members of the team for example EN clinical fellows/EN clinical coordinator You'll be responsible for working towards team and organisational objectives to support the running of the EN scheme and delivery of the NHS Resolution Business plan You will be a subject matter expert on maternity/perinatal care and lead on sharing learning from claims You will develop good working relationships with Trusts and key partners in the maternity/perinatal space What you'll bring:

Engage effectively with staff and managers at all levels to ensure the active participation of key contributors and stakeholders. This will require strong influencing and personal communication skills.

Expert clinical acumen and knowledge to bring clinical credibility to the role

Initiative and problem solving skills able to navigate the dynamic work of the team and the external maternity environment

Passion for the work of the EN team, and an empathetic approach when communicating with families and stakeholders, and a committment to supporting the development of the EN scheme

Analytical skills to support the sharing of learning from claims to support improvements in clinical practice

Strong compassionate leadership skills
