Job summary
An exciting position has arisen within our Seisdon Mental Health Support Team. We are looking for an experienced & enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioner Supervisor.
You will provide formal and informal education, training and supervision to other members of the team and other disciplines if identified as a need.
The MHSTs will deliver evidence-based interventions, supporting emotional wellbeing, primarily in an educational setting. Under your supervision and support staff will be delivering full assessments of care needs, risk assessment and evidence-based interventions.
The service will be available Monday to Friday 9-5pm, though there may be times when workshops or community work are required after school and it is essential that the post holder is flexible. The post holder will maintain managerial responsibility for caseloads and clinical skills. The post holder will also manage a clinical role and/or a caseload dependent upon locality need.
The post holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining team systems and processes for the effective operation of the team including outcome measurements, audit and annual service policy review.
The post holder will act in support with fellow Team Leaders in providing clinical leadership and advice across the MHST.

Job description Job responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide evidence based CBT-informed supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs).
Provide formal and informal education, training and supervision to other members of the team to include other services such as schools.
To work with a defined caseload of service users as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), providing assessment, care planning and care delivery for service users with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This will include the provision of highly skilled professional care, psychological interventions, group work, clinical assessment, risk assessments / risk management, and promoting recovery and inclusion.
Ensure co-production with service users, families and carers and the education staff.
To provide specialist advice / consultation and guidance to school mental health leads, team members and trainees.
To liaise with all members of the MDT, schools and outside agencies in the implementation of early intervention.
To ensure that interventions are evidence based.
To provide an all age inclusive service, focussing on early identification and rapid response that supports effective clinical decision making and education of education staff.
Participate in risk assessment and risk management activities.
To contribute to the development of ideas and innovative practice and propose changes to protocols and procedures within the MHST and CAMHS where required.
To shape and influence developing referral pathways and access.
Provide a flexible service, with occasional evening and weekend working to facilitate parent pyscho-education and community activities.
To perform other duties as may be necessary for the development of other services and the requirements of the changing service.

To provide clinical leadership to staff working within multi-disciplinary teams in order to assess, develop, deliver and evaluate effective programs of care
To assist the Team Manager in the effective management of the function and to act up in their absence To provide effective clinical supervision to staff within the team, mentoring individuals and groups around the chosen area of clinical practice To maintain continuing professional development by engaging in the appraisal system, clinical supervision and through specific mentorship provided by a member of the senior clinical team Participate in and lead junior staff in the continuous improvement of services through the Trusts approach to service redesign and quality improvement To support others in their continuing professional development by delivering appraisal and supporting the development of PDPs with individuals. Provide supervision to trainees and maintain accurate and up to date records in line with Trust policy.
Use clinical leadership skills to maintain an environment of high quality care and treatment Organise the work of others to promote a responsive timely service that ensure children, families and carers receive high quality care and treatment as determined by their care plan Maintain an up to date understanding of staffing capacity ensuring that the deployment of staff and resources is planned and as far as possible maintained within budgeted levels

Systems and equipment
Demonstrate personal qualities and skills which involves taking the lead in teaching and/or having presentation skills against various individuals and groups across the sectors. Maintain timely data collection and regular inputting of information through the use of data collection systems e.g. daily diaries/RIO, Safeguard.
Use laptop/mobile communication device/online software as appropriate. Knowledge and implementation of Microsoft programmes/applications.
Decisions and judgements
Work in partnership with schools, social care colleagues and others adopting a multi-agency approach to support children/young people and their families/carers. To work integrally with CAMHS in developing the core offer for children, young people and families. Work co-productively with service users and their carers and families. Maintain awareness of current development in children and young peoples practice, best practice, trends, issues and research in mental health and education. To be familiar with the government Green Paper, Future in Mind document and Five Year Forward View. Undertake a comprehensive and specialist assessment resulting in an individualised care plan Will regularly be expected to make judgements and decisions effecting the care of a challenging client group Assess and manage ongoing risks as identified during assessment, ensuring that this is done in collaboration with children, families and carers. Regularly review risk factors and make changes to the management of them as necessary.

Physical demands of the job
There is a frequent requirement for light physical effort for several short periods during a shift, involving carrying of equipment Requirement to travel to various geographical locations Undertake the management of severely challenging and disturbed children, families and carers with difficult backgrounds and history There will be a frequent requirement to concentrate whilst assessing patients and formulating plans of care and risk management plans whilst responding to requests from staff. The post holder may be occasionally exposed to potential incidents of physical and non-physical assault Standard keyboard skills required for inputting data onto RiO, Health Roster, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING Essential
Post Graduate Supervisor Qualification - CWP or EMHP with significant post qualifying experience Current Professional Registration (BPS or BABCP)- We understand registration for CWP/EMHP is a new process, so at the time of advertising, it may not be possible for the candidate to be registered, but there is the expectation that you will register as soon as is possible.
