Job summary

We are pleased to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, forward thinking, friendly and supportive team in the Earlsdon area of Coventry; part of Go West PCN. We are a high QOF achieving practice and pride ourselves on working collaboratively to support all team members.

We are looking for a salaried GP on a fixed term contract to cover 7 sessions a week from June - December 2026 (maternity leave)

Our Practice Director is is also a Director for Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance. We have a active Patient Participation Group whose members include Healthwatch representatives. We outsource our private reports and have strong links with community organisations.

Salary £10,500 per session depending upon skills and experience

Main duties of the job

You will need to have the skills to resolve and manage issues as they arise and be able to prioritise your workload, be flexible for the needs of the business and able to consider business constraints and service user needs. You will also need to have a consistent and compassionate approach with our service users at all times.

Liaising with patients and colleagues is a key part of the role so you must have an excellent telephone manner and good communication skills, be reliable, trustworthy, and have a caring and empathetic manner. Good IT skills and experience are essential

Kensington Road is a long-established NHS GP practice based in the Earlsdon area of Coventry.

Clinical skill mix consists of 1 GP Director , 3 x salaried GPs, 1 x Prescribing ANP, 1 HCA and a number of ARRS supporting Staff and full complement of administration and reception staff.

Job description Job responsibilities

The salaried GP will play an integral role in ensuring an integrated and focused healthcare provision relevant to the differing needs of the patient population within the Coventry area. The salaried GP will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a full range of general medical services to patient groups. Main Duties and Responsibilities: The post holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.Clinical Responsibilities: In accordance with Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Offer and carry out consultations and where appropriate, physical examinations for the purposes of identifying and reducing the risk of illness, disease or injury, including immediately necessary and temporary patients. To carry out screening on patients for disease factors and early signs of illness; In consultation with patients and in line with any current practice disease management protocols develop care plans for health; To provide counselling and support to patients with Mental Health issues; To take clinical responsibility for registered patients and maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous records and notes of treatment given and NHS services provided. To give advice to patients on general health matters and in particular about the significance of risk activities i.e. use of tobacco, consumption of alcohol and the misuse of drugs and/or solvents;

To offer and provide, as appropriate, to individual patient needs, all immunisations which are currently available as part of GMS; To arrange for the referral of patients, as appropriate and for the provision of any other services as appropriate. To deliver any enhanced services that the practice has contracted to deliver; Carry out reviews of medication prescribing; To prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is appropriate. Maintain appropriate levels and means of communication with other agencies for whom care is being given to the patients from who the practitioner is responsible.Other Duties Active participation/co-operation in the management arrangements of the practice and in the work of the primary healthcare team; Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety etc. Assist in the improvement of the range of services available to patients in the primary care setting to provide greater continuing care for patients. Collect data for audit purposes i.e. prescribing QOF and contract delivery Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation including collecting data for audits. To take responsibility for their own and other health and safety in the working environment Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
