Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Child and Young Persons Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) 0-18 team. This exciting opportunity involves working with children and young people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and providing specialist occupational therapy interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Essential qualifications: Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration. Experience: demonstrable experience Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage young people and families effectively. Expertise in delivering a range of therapeutic interventions. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and mentor junior staff. Commitment: Passion for working with children and young people in mental health and a commitment to person-centred, compassionate care.

Main Duties:
Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to support service users in achieving their therapeutic goals & enhancing their independence in daily activities. Deliver comprehensive assessments, treatment, & management plans focusing on functional & sensory needs for children & young people with complex mental health conditions. Conduct interventions that promote skill development in areas such as self-care, school participation, & social integration, enabling young people to manage the impact of their mental health on daily functioning. Actively participate in care planning, offering expert advice on adaptations & strategies to support recovery & promote resilience. Offer training, advice, & consultation to colleagues, families & external agencies on the role of occupational therapy in mental health, helping to build capacity & enhance outcomes for young people. Contribute to the development & pathways of the wider occupational therapy service within CYPMHS. Contribute to service development & innovation, ensuring that the occupational therapy service is evidence-based, cost-effective & aligned with best practices and CYPMHS guidelines.
