Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity We are looking for a Surfacing Worker to join our Invercargill team and play a hands-on role in delivering road maintenance and surfacing projects across the region. If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in quality work, and want to be part of a supportive crew that values safety and teamwork, this could be the opportunity for you. As a Surfacing Worker, you'll work alongside experienced operators and crew members carrying out a range of road surfacing and maintenance activities across Southland. You'll support the delivery of projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard, helping ensure roads and transport networks remain safe and reliable for our communities. This is a physically active role where you'll work outdoors in a team environment and contribute to a variety of projects throughout the year. Day to day responsibilities:
• Carry out surfacing and road maintenance activities as directed by the Foreperson or Operations Supervisor • Assist with asphalt, chipseal and general pavement construction works • Complete pre-start inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment • Load, unload and handle materials safely and minimise wastage • Support the wider crew to meet productivity, quality and safety targets • Complete daily records, reports and other site documentation as required • Build positive relationships with road users, residents and stakeholders while on site Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn. You’ll ideally have:
• Previous experience in civil construction, road maintenance, surfacing or a similar industry • Strong commitment to health and safety • The ability to work well within a team environment • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude • Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions • A full class 1 Drivers License
