QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Major DutiesDuties include but are not limited to: Operates, regulates, maintains, and repairs the Boiler Plant Unit of the Utility Systems Operation Section of Facilities Management Service. Safely and efficiently operate high pressure automatic gas and oil fired boilers and all associated auxiliary equipment, instruments, electronic/pneumatic controls and measuring devices in a steam generating plant. Operates the Chiller Plant and all utility systems and equipment associated with the steam and chilled water distribution systems. Monitors and controls Medical Center Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Monitor other medical center equipment through hardwired devices to the Boiler Plant, i.e., generators, intrusion alarms, space temperatures, etc. Maintain utility systems and related equipment in the boiler plant, i.e., valves, pumps, motors, and exhaust fans. Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts, subject to change due to position coverage. Work on close, cramped positions inside boilers. Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Occasionally required to lift and move heavy objects of varying weights, sizes, and shapes.
