Job summary
This is a confirmed fixed-term 12 month Clinical Fellow post and an exciting opportunity to join the existing Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes team at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC), UHBW. We are a recognised Centre of Excellence previously with two European Reference Networks as a specialised centre for both Rare Endocrine and Rare Bone disease. We are also commissioned as the south west regional CEW (Complications of Excess Weight) hub site by NHSE and Bristol is also one of the four nationally commissioned, NHS England funded complex Osteogenesis Imperfecta service. The endocrine and diabetes team based at the BRHC will consist of 6 NHS endocrine and diabetes consultants, one University of Bristol clinical academic for diabetes and Obesity, and 2 Consultant Paediatricians with an interest in diabetes, 4.9 WTE paediatric endocrinology/late-effect nurse specialists and 8.2 WTE PDSN, 3 WTE dietitians and 2.8 WTE Clinical Psychologists. This post will join the specialist endocrinology services and large diabetes team and work with the teams across both Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, and Weston General Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Endocrinology unit is a large and busy department which provides Specialist Endocrinology service to Bristol and the South-West Region (population 5 million) with 5 consultants providing the full range of paediatric endocrinology services with special interests in DSD, neuro-endocrinology (regional neuro-surgical unit), oncology late effects, Complex Osteogenesis Imperfecta (COI), and endocrine bone, and Obesity and Complications of weight (CEW). The tertiary service is based at BRHC and provides one of the four nationally commissioned, NHS England funded complex Osteogenesis Imperfecta services, and a nationally commissioned CEW service. There are also 4.8 WTE clinical nurse specialists in Paediatric Endocrinology and access to Psychology, and a specialist COI and Endocrine Bone MDT, and a specialist obesity MDT.

Qualifications and Training Essential
MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification Postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics MRCPCH or equivalent Successful completion of Foundation Training or equivalent English language competency (IELTS/OET). IELTS: Overall band 7.5 and minimum score of 7.0 in each of reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Or, OET: Grade B in all four sub-tests of listening, reading, writing and speaking
