Job SummaryYou will serve as a Engineer or Scientist in the Chief Technology Office of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 pay band (GS-09/11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist applying scientific and engineering principles combined with expertise in educational methods to develop STEM lesson plans and coordinate academic internship programs for students. Examples of qualifying experience may include: Organizing and managing volunteers to support educational initiatives; delivering formal oral presentations to diverse internal and external organizations; and establishing effective, cooperative working relationships with key institutional stakeholders. Major DutiesYou will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Newport Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) outreach programs for grades K-12.You will work closely with the STEM Outreach Director, other Chief Technology Office (CTO) personnel, and Division leadership to ensure the program is aligned with strategic plans.You will support a wide variety of STEM programs including traditional classroom efforts, robotics developments and competitions, and on-site immersive efforts.You will provide hands-on assistance to students and volunteers with scientific experiments, robotics development, and engineering prototype concept demonstrations.You will utilize a broad educational and experiential background to develop and execute hands-on educational programs that teach and excite students about STEM career fields.
