Healthcare Cleaning Operative - Theatre Department Hereford County Hospital Permanent, Band 2 - With the Opportunity to Undertake the Level 2 Healthcare Cleaning Operative qualification through the NHS Academy offer.

Wye Valley NHS Trust is currently in the process of building three new day case theatres. This is an exciting venture and will support the Trust in addressing waiting times for the patients of Herefordshire and beyond and present excellent opportunities for staff who are interested in a career in theatres. This is a fantastic opportunity to take yourfirst stepsinto a career in the NHS as a Healthcare Cleaning Operative within the theatre department at Wye Valley NHS Trust.

We have a number of full time and part time opportunities available to applicantswith or without previous health care experience,who are wanting to develop a career in health care.

Our Healthcare Cleaning Operatives are a vital part of the theatre team ensuring that our theatres are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. You will work as part of a team and will be trained in all aspects of domestic duties in a very busy clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a team, with support and guidance .You will have scope to take responsibility for developing your own skills and demonstrate a commitment to learning.

To work as part of a team to maintain levels of cleanliness in the theatre environment in line with the national standards of cleanliness. To carry out a wide range of cleaning duties and adhere to infection prevention standards to ensure the environment is clean and tidy. To ensure the equipment and materials are used and stored safely. To ensure correct waste disposal procedures. To minimize hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager. To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area. To demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information. To maintain confidentiality at all times. The Healthcare Cleaning Operative have the following core shifts: 0800-1400; 1500-2100; 1800-0200; 2000-0200Candidates will be expected to be flexible within these shift times.

Education & Qualifications Essential

Good level of written and verbal communication skills Basic literacy skills

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Essential

Good customer service skills / experience of dealing with General Public / Patients / Relatives Ability to follow instructions and organise own work to meet the team objectives, adapting work to meet any changing priorities which may need to meet tight timescales

Previous work in cleaning and/or catering would be an advantage
