Main duties of the job

The Medical Director is the senior clinical leader within Badger Healthcare Group, accountable for the delivery of excellence in clinical quality, safety and governance across all services. The role provides both strategic and operational clinical leadership to ensure the organisation consistently delivers safe, high-quality, patient-centred care in line with its social enterprise values, statutory and contractual responsibilities, and local and national priorities. As a core member of the executive team, the post holder brings strong clinical leadership to digital transformation, innovation, business growth and service diversification, ensuring clinical priorities are central to organisational strategy and delivery.The Medical Director leads the organisations approach to clinical risk management and continuous improvement, while building influential relationships across health, care and Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise (VCFSE) partners to support the development of integrated and sustainable services.The role includes responsibility as Caldicott Guardian and participation in the senior on-call rota.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Postgraduate medical qualification such as MRCP or MRCGP Registered doctor with a GMC license to practice, so able to work clinically in one or more Badger clinical service An unblemished GMC record Recorded on the GMC GP register Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development Up to date knowledge of key national policy issues and trends related to quality and safety

Desirable

A Research Degree such a MPhil, MD, or PhD Fellowship of the RCGP Postgraduate Education qualification Postgraduate leadership qualification

Experience Essential

Senior clinical leadership experience, demonstrating a commitment to service quality and value for money Experience of working within the NHS or other similarly sized, complex organisation Takes initiative, acts with confidence, and works under own direction Strong leadership skills, able to coach, support and guide direct reports to maximise their potential Patient Safety Incident Investigation experience

Desirable

A proven record in the successful implementation of new/improved, innovative models of care achieved through partnership with other agencies Experience of working at Board level, including influence and challenge Experience in a highly complex contracting environment Coroner court and medicolegal case experience
