Job summary
Elmwood Ward at Parklands Hospital is a 17 bedded specialist dementia ward providing compassionate, person centred care to patients with a diagnosis of Dementia. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with their physical, emotional and social needs while promoting dignity, independence and safety at all times. You will be joining a friendly, supportive and welcoming multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high quality dementia care.
Full training will be provided during working hours, including PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression), Basic Life Support and Patient Handling. There are excellent development opportunities, including progression to nursing apprenticeships.
The ward operates a range of working patterns to support a 24hour service. Shifts include Earlies (7:00am--3:00pm), Lates (1:30pm--9:30pm) and Nights (9:00pm--7:30am). There are also opportunities to work compressed hours through long day shifts which can be discussed at interview. Night shifts are worked on a rotational basis, and weekend and bank holiday working is a requirement of the role.
Elmwood Ward benefits from its own enclosed garden and seating area for patients and visitors, providing a calm and therapeutic environment. A dedicated sensory room is also available to help stimulate cognition and improve patient wellbeing. No two days will be the same, and resilience, compassion and adaptability are essential qualities in this rewarding role

To provide physical and psychological care to service users in accordance with the specified plan of clinical care.
To carry out duties as designated by the person in charge including personal care.
To accurately record patient/service user information.
To provide support to relatives/carers
