Job summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department Research Team at Addenbrooke's Hospital. In this role, you will work alongside teams across the hospital and collaborate with researchers from other NHS Trusts, universities, and industry partners worldwide. You will join a well-established and highly successful research team that has recruited patients to over 80 clinical trials, including CTIMPs, observational studies, and commercially led research. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and improve patient care by enhancing diagnostics, refining treatments, testing new technologies, and advancing medical knowledge. As the region's Major Trauma Centre, the department has strong links with a leading Neuro Critical Care Unit, supporting a collaborative approach to improving patient outcomes. Your ability to build effective working relationships across the department, admitting specialties, and clinical support teams will be key to identifying and recruiting patients to clinical trials. Main duties of the job
The band 6 Research Nurse is responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused clinical research within the ED Research Team.
Responsible for identifying eligible clinical research participants, provision of information and support to patients/participants, study recruitment and consent, co-ordination of study treatment/ interventions, assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care and data collection according to study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research governance framework.
Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with other staff.
Demonstrate extended skills such as phlebotomy, ECG and laboratory skills to perform research duties in line with study protocols.
Building relationships across the Emergency Department, admitting specialties and clinical support teams, in order to maximise referrals and recruitment of patients to clinical trials.
Taking ownership of study management for specific clinical trials, liaising with Sponsors, Chief Investigators, Principal Investigators and delivering training to clinical staff on those trials.

The ED Research Team is a well established research delivery team made up of a Band 7 Senior Research Nurse, two Band 6 Research nurses and a Clinical Trials Coordinator role. The team is led by Dr Adrian Boyle, Dr Ed Barnard and Dr Virginia Newcombe, all of which have extensive expertise in delivering research and innovation. Collaboratively, we aim to improve practice in emergency care under the scope of EURECA - Emergency & Urgent Care Research Cambridge.
