Job Title:Speech and Language Therapy Technical Instructor - Gender Affirming VoiceBand:3Reports to: Speech and Language Therapist (SLT)

We are looking for a dynamic speech and language therapy assistant to work within our very exciting Transcend team.

You will be supported by 2 x very senior therapists and work across a multidisciplinary team with various partners including Merseycare and LUFHT.

The role works largely remotely but also requires a small amount of hybrid work as necessary.

Main duties of the job

Support qualified SLTs in the delivery of therapy and care to Trans gender and non-binary service users. Deliver specified SLT interventions under the supervision of an SLT, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and affirming therapeutic environment.

Job description Job responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Carry out delegated speech and language therapy programmes for individuals or groups, as planned by the supervising SLT. Adapt therapy materials as instructed to meet needs of service users. Observe and report service users' responses to therapy or interventions to the supervising SLT, using judgment on when to escalate or seek support. Communicate with service users using empathy, reassurance, and tact, overcoming barriers related to speech and language. Support service users in understanding communication and voice goals in gender affirming care and provide information about SLT approaches for gender affirming voice. Be flexible in working remotely and in clinic locations when indicated. Participate in relevant multidisciplinary discussions, respecting confidentiality. Maintain accurate records of all work carried out in line with service policies and ensure data protection. Support caseload management and organise therapy appointments and assist with the preparation of resources for sessions. Receive regular support and supervision, recognising the boundaries of own role and expertise.

Qualifications Essential

NVQ level 3 in diagnostics and therapeutics

Experience Essential

Experience in working with Speech and Language Therapy Adult Clients

Skills Essential

Good communication skills Good observational skills (H) Good understanding of impact of communication problems (H) Able to communicate at appropriate level with patients and carers (H) Good record keeping and organisational skills

Desirable

Able to use initiative, and be adaptable Word processing IT lieracy
