About this role

Job summary

This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service. We are looking for a motivated, thoughtful, and collaborative clinician who is passionate about improving outcomes for women and families during the perinatal period and equally enthusiastic about advancing research within clinical practice.

This role offers the best of both worlds: the chance to deliver high-quality, compassionate specialist care within a supportive multidisciplinary team, alongside meaningful involvement in research and service development. You will be part of a service that values curiosity, reflective practice and co-production, and that actively supports staff to develop their interests in research, quality improvement and leadership.

We are looking for someone who is clinically skilled, caring, compassionate and able to work flexibly across clinical and research settings. You will need to be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to collaborative working with colleagues and the women and families we serve.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will take a senior position within a multidisciplinary perinatal mental health team, providing expert clinical care to women with mental health needs across the perinatal pathway. You will work directly with women from preconception through pregnancy and into the postnatal period, offering specialist assessment, formulation and treatment that is compassionate, evidence-based and tailored to the needs of each family.

You will guide and support colleagues in managing complex cases, offering expertise in areas such as risk assessment, diagnostic clarity, and medication in the perinatal context. You will play a key role in shaping care planning, facilitating collaborative decision-making with women and their families, and ensuring care is well coordinated across a wide network of professionals and services.

You will also contribute to a culture of learning and development, providing teaching, supervision and clinical advice to a range of professionals across mental health, maternity and primary care settings. Alongside this, you will be involved in service development, quality improvement and research activity, helping to strengthen and innovate the care we provide.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong clinical expertise with a passion for embedding research into clinical practice and a clear commitment to delivering excellent, compassionate care.
