Job summary
To support the partners and general practitioners (GPs) to ensure the efficient provision of medical services and clinics by performing routine administrative and clinical duties. This will allow the GP (S) to utilise their own time more effectively towards greater patient focused activities.
Main duties of the job
Main Responsibilities and Duties Undertaking new patient health checks Carrying out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording all findings accurately Facilitating routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Carrying out BMI checks as directed/chaperoning when required After completion of GPA Training Programme, undertaking venepuncture Signposting some received correspondence to others, e.g., clinical pharmacist, practice nurse aiding the triage process with the triaging Doctors Support practice patients by arranging appointments, onward referrals, clinical tests and follow up appointments. Completing basic (non-opinion) forms in addition to some elements of forms for the GP(s) to approve, such as insurance forms, mortgage applications, form completion for various departments - DWP etc. Supporting GP(s) in liaising with external agencies, such as helping to arrange patient admission while the GP(s) continue with the consultation. Supporting the GP(s) with lab reports and Docman Undertaking all mandatory training and induction programmes Attending a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months.

Communication
To communicate on the phone, by email or in person with staff from a wide variety of NHS / other departments in a confidential, professional, and efficient manner so that good communication between the surgery and all other services is maintained. To communicate in a professional, friendly and helpful way with patients, carers and the general public to maintain an excellent profile for the surgery amongst its users including communicating test results where appropriate. To maintain confidentiality for all patients and users of the service. To communicate effectively and sensitively with service users who maybe angry, confrontational, upset, anxious, fearful or have communication difficulties such as poor language skills, hearing loss or learning disabilities.
Responsibility
Prioritise workload and day to day tasks as allocated by lead GPA. To support the effective maintenance and management of office systems To be responsible for recognising own training needs and identifying training needs that may help improve services quality.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Accredited Program Certification: Programs by bodies like the University of Chester or ARU, culminating in a GPA Skills Certificate Core Competencies: Training received covering five domains: Care Certificate (clinical), Clinical Skills, Communications, Administration, and Managing Health Records. Requirements: While no formal qualifications are required, we often look for prior experience in a clinical setting, IT skills, and strong organizational skills.

Qualified to NVQ Level 3
