Job summary
We are recruiting for Multi Skilled Plumber to join our team.
You will carry out and/or oversee the repair/maintenance/installation of complex plant and equipment across all Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (HIOWH) properties.
This will involve a multi-skilled approach as well as the full range of duties associated with the postholders primary trade as a Plumber or Mechanical Engineer. This will include planned preventative maintenance, and reactive repair works across varying systems, potentially acting as an Authorised Person (AP) in one of either Water, Medical Gasses, Mechanical Pressure System, HVAC or Decontamination.
This will include the issuing of permits to work, carrying out system shutdowns in a compliant and recorded manner to assist with Maintenance works or larger Capital Project works.
Main duties of the job
Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and associated work is implemented efficiently to specified requirements and aid with improving these requirements on a continuous basis. To undertake the servicing of plumbing and mechanical plant as per the PPM schedule and works issued by your Estates Officer.
To carry out reactive repairs to plumbing, heating and ventilation systems to include:
General fault finding and rectification following reported breakdowns
The repair/replacement/installation of general plumbing fixtures such as taps, WC's, basins, supply services and waste pipework, valves and associated fittings
Drainage
Commercial Heating Systems
Commercial Boilers
Vented and unvented hot and cold water and heating systems
AHU's (Air Handling Units)
Fan motors (supply and extract)
Smoke/Fire Dampers
Booster Pumps
Medical Gasses

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Recognised and registered apprenticeship, or an NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing, Plumbing and Heating, Ventilation or a Mechanical Engineering discipline A sound understanding of the basic principles of water, heating and ventilation systems Able to fault-find, diagnose and rectify plumbing/mechanical faults Driving license
Desirable
Recognised and registered apprenticeship, or an NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing, Plumbing and Heating, Ventilation or a Mechanical Engineering discipline WRAS certification/qualification Un-vented certification/qualification Computer literate with experience using a PDA device/CAFM system Authorised Person status in an appropriate mechanical discipline
Experience Essential
Experience in Plumbing and Heating or mechanical services Good communication skills Demonstrate the ability to understand and follow detailed technical instructions
Desirable
Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving Previous experience working in a healthcare setting Understanding of anti-ligature requirements
