Job summary
Coalway Lane is a 20-bed Mental Health Rehabilitation and Recovery service supporting adults with complex mental health needs to live well and independently in the community. Rated by the CQC, our service looks and feels like a home, not a hospital, with modern detached houses where every resident has their own front door key and bedroom.
We work with a strengths-based, least restrictive approach, helping people build confidence, daily living skills, and resilience for community life.
Main duties of the job
As a Staff Nurse, youll manage a small caseload from admission to discharge, delivering person-centred recovery plans that make a real difference. Youll use your clinical skills, compassion and creativity to:
Assess and manage mental health needs Support recovery-focused care planning Lead shifts and oversee medication management Build therapeutic relationships Promote independence and positive risk-takingContract: Full-time, 24/7 service - includes nights and weekends

Job description Job responsibilities
As the post holder you will promote overall wellbeing in people who have longstanding and complex mental health problems and who often present with behaviours that challenge.
You will be responsible for efficiently co-ordinating and controlling day to day service delivery in conjunction with, and in absence of, the Service Manager / Clinical Lead, providing leadership to the team.
You will work with service users, their families and other carers to assess client need, develop support plans and implement planned interventions.
Deliver a service that meet the needs of service users and their carers inclusive of all required patient record management in order to provide high quality support services.Manage a team of up to 10 staff ensure the effective and efficient deployment of resources to achieve agreed outcomes and targets.Coach and Mentor student nurses and newly qualified nurses to support with individuals development.Provide administration, support to nurses and dispensing of medication under the direction of medical and nursing professionals and/or manufacturers guidelines to deliver a high quality and compliant service.Assist Clinical Lead/Service Manager to ensure that the service meets all relevant quality standards and related professional regulatory body requirements,Provide reports to the Clinical Lead around incidents and incident management to adhere to regulatory standards.Provide regular auditing of the service making recommendations for improvements to ensure good governance.Deputise for Clinical Lead when required.Undertake any reasonable duties/responsibilities to meet the needs of the organisation.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Demonstrable experience of managing teams including associated HR. Demonstrable experience of writing detailed reports, including service user assessments. Significant experience of coaching and developing newly qualified staff. Significant experience of administering and dispensing medication. Significant experience of working with client/patient families and nonprofessional carers. Significant experience of working with people who have experienced common mental health problems i.e. anxiety / depression. Significant experience of working with clients who may present as highly emotive and at times present as aggressive or difficult.
Qualifications Essential
Qualified and NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or RNLD
Knowledge and Skills Essential
Understanding of complex mental health conditions and behaviours relating to, or equivalent experience. Understanding of local and national policies on mental health service provision. Understanding of laws, mental capacity act, Mental Health Act, Safeguarding. Detailed understanding of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems. Understanding of anxiety disorders and depression, the stepped care model and high-intensity step-up options to aid clinical decision making in the service and appropriate patient coordination. Understanding of the principles of person centred care and overall mental and physical wellbeing. Detailed understanding working with people who have complex mental health conditions. Understanding of interventions and working with people who present with behaviours that challenge. Understanding of the principles of recovery focussed outcomes and overall (mental and physical) wellbeing. Understanding of controlled drugs. Developed communication skills, orally and in writing. Developed relationship building skills. Basic Research skills. Developed interpersonal skills. Developed presentational skills. Developed clinical assessment skills. Basic leadership skills.
