We are seeking an exceptional and accomplished leader who is currently serving as Chief Operating Officer or is an experienced Deputy Chief Operating Officer within a comparable organisation.

As Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director at one of the UK's leading cancer centres the post holder will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering the Trust's operational services driving quality, efficiency and sustainable improvement.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the Executive Team, you will bring credibility, presence, leadership and ambition to inspire confidence and influence colleagues at every level. You will champion our values, fostering behaviours that places patients at the heart of everything we do and recognise staff for their contribution.

With a strong record of successful workforce, financial and resource management, ensuring high performance and holding individuals to account you will have experience of building cohesive teams and inspiring others to achieve excellence.

A passion for excellent patient care and a strong appreciation of population health, inclusion and reducing health and race inequality will be essential.

You will need to demonstrate a strong track record of outstanding leadership in service delivery and proven experience of business continuity and emergency preparedness, planning and implementation.

Resilience and a determination to overcome challenges will be key.

Educated to degree level, ideally masters, or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Significant senior operational leadership experience within a complex healthcare organisation (ideally NHS), with accountability for delivery of safe, high-quality services and performance against national, regional and local standards Proven experience of leading multi-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams through clear accountability frameworks, divisional performance management and delivery of annual operational plans Demonstrable track record of improving operational performance, productivity and financial sustainability, including delivery of cost improvement programmes and effective management of income and expenditure Experience of operating at Board / Executive level, contributing to organisational strategy, governance and assurance, and effective decision making Experience of building and maintaining effective partnerships across health and care systems, including commissioners, provider partners and wider stakeholders Experience of leading and assuring clinical governance, risk management and response to serious incidents, working closely with senior clinical leaders Experience of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) leadership and/or acting as an accountable executive lead Understanding of the role of digital, data and operational intelligence in improving quality, performance and productivity Experience of working with, or oversight of, commercial operations, subsidiaries and/or joint ventures, ensuring alignment with NHS priorities and governance requirements

Desirable

Experience in management of a subsidiary company; leading strategic and business development
