Main duties of the job As a Senior Occupational Therapist at Farmfield Hospital, you'll work in a secure environment with male patients detained under the Mental Health Act. Your role encompasses delivering high-quality assessments, interventions, and clinical leadership. You'll demonstrate specialist skills in occupational engagement and environmental adaptation. Key duties include managing caseloads, planning interventions, and fostering effective communication with patients, colleagues, and external professionals. You'll assume a leadership role within the OT team in the lead's absence and ensure junior staff's management and supervision. Participation in CPAs, risk assessments, and service development is expected, aligning clinical practice with Elysium policies, statutory regulations, and quality standards to enhance healthcare delivery.

Your responsibilities as an Occupational Therapist will include:
Receive and respond promptly to new admissions, undertaking assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs.The OT team follow (MOHO) The Model of Human Occupation. Plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based interventions.These will provide patients with the confidence, skills and coping strategies to function in everyday life. Contribute to risk assessments, formulations, attend ward rounds and CPA meetings and provide feedback on patients’ engagement in Occupational Therapy and achievement of goals. Develop close working relationships with clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Elysium policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards. Maintain effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers and external professionals throughout a patient’s rehabilitation journey. Ensure accurate and contemporaneous electronic records and maintained. Take a lead within the Occupational Therapy team in the absence of the lead. Ensure the effective management and supervision of more junior staff. Contribute to service evaluation and development. To be a Successful Occupational Therapist you will need:

Qualifications Essential
To be a successful Occupational Therapist, you need an Occupational Therapy qualification, UK HCPC registration, extensive post-qualification clinical experience in adult services, and a thorough understanding of occupational therapy frameworks and clinical reasoning skills.
