We offer a clinical facing patient role across our specialist inpatient wards, community teams and clozapine clinic throughout the Devon area.
The post holder will focus on delivering this service through a clinical patient facing role at ward level. We offer and support outstanding opportunities to further develop your clinical skills as a pharmacy technician and share best practise outside the organisation.

Main duties of the job
Clinical Technician
Clinical Pharmacy Technician are responsible for identifying and following up within one working day patients who will require a high level of pharmacy input. Prioritise patients who require high level of input and complete a review and monitoring of these patients. Any issues identified are discussed with the pharmacist and/or the medical team, who will review and amend the prescription as appropriate. Follow up on-going monitoring of chronic conditions and discuss outcomes with the pharmacist and/or the medical team for review. Provide patient counselling for all patients admitted to our wards, including on-going medicines and newly started medicines. Carry out clinical prioritisation duties that require good analytical and decision-making skills, combined with holistic clinical knowledge.

Qualifications Essential
NVQ level 3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Accredited Medicine Optimisation Technician levels: Foundation Intermediate Advance Evidence of revalidation.
Desirable
Accredited checking technician. A1/D32/33 accredited NVQ assessor
Experience Essential
Evidence of post-qualification experience of medicine optimisation duties. Previous experience of the specialist function for area of responsibility or the ability to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge. Proven recent hospital experience of delivering medicine optimisation service as a qualified pharmacy technician. Previous experience of supporting the training and teaching of others Working within a clinical/ward environment Experience and/or interest in mental health
