Job summary

Applications are invited to apply for a Substantive Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant post with specialist interest in Head and Neck Oncology based at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a permanent full-time appointment on a 10 PA job plan. The post holder will be part of an established multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team of Oral and Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative colleagues and several other medical related specialities.

Oxford University Hospitals is keen to appoint a substantive, full-time consultant inOral & Maxillofacial Surgery, with a focus on Head & Neck cancer management.

The role involves being a core member of the multidisciplinary team, providing both ablative and reconstructive care for Head & Neck cancer patients.

The consultant will support the general OMFS workload, on-call rota, participate in outpatient clinics, supervise junior staff, and contribute to teaching, research, and clinical governance.The position requires collaboration with colleagues across specialties.

The postholder is set to work primarily at Churchill and John Radcliffe Hospitals, but must be willing to work at any Trust location as needed.

The postholder is expected to contribute to service development, risk management, and uphold the Trust's values of compassionate excellence

Job description Job responsibilities

The post willalsosupport the general Oral & Maxillofacial consultant workload and on-call service

The post will be part of thecore member of Head & Neck MDT

Undertake outpatient clinics,new and follow-ups with supervision of junior staff asappropriate.

Develop andmaintaincollaborative relationships with medicaland dentalcolleagues in other specialties andparticipatein regular clinical meetings and otherpost-graduateactivities.

Develop andmaintaingood communicationwith General Practitioners (medical and dental), colleagues in the salaried dental services andallied health carepractitioners.

Workcollaboratively with the multidisciplinary team within and outside the department.

Active involvement in Audit, Clinical Governance,morbidityand mortality meetings

Participation indepartmentaleducationalactivity.

Share responsibility for dataprotection,particularly digital and electronic records.

Ensure good clinical practice and continued professional development.

The post holder willcomply withinfection control practices and any relevant trust policies and procedures with regards to Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.

Supervision of the Specialist Registrars will be expected.

Qualifications Essential

oEligible for Full registration with the GMC and on the specialist Register Or confirmed CCT date within 6 months of the date of AAC oRegistration with GDC

Experience Essential

oSuccessful completion of an SAC-approved OMFS Training Program oTraining in Cleft/Alveolar Bone Graft oEvidence of understanding of and participation in Audit and Governance oUnderstanding of clinical risk management oEvidence of involvement in management and leadership practices oExperience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching
