Saalex is seeking a Configuration and Data Manager in Ridgecrest, CA. Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $40 - $70 hourly (Depending upon experience)

Work Location: Fully onsite.

Job Summary:

This position provides critical Configuration and Data Management (CDM) support to the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Technical Project Office(s) at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD). The successful candidate will execute daily CDM operational activities, ensuring strict adherence to established program policies, procedures, and lifecycle management standards.

Essential Functions:

Configuration Control & Board Management

Facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) & Peer Reviews: Establish meetings, distribute technical data, consolidate comments, record minutes in real-time, and track action items through to validated closure.Manage the Engineering Change Process: Analyze Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for accuracy and compliance; execute change distribution tasking, including downloading, distributing, and integrating approved changes into program databases. Contract Data & Deliverables

Oversee CDRL Lifecycle: Manage the complete lifecycle of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), including receipt, distribution for technical review, consolidation of comments, and processing formal approvals or rejections back to the contractor.Prepare Data Packages: Assist in formatting and preparing data packages to ensure they meet program requirements, are suitable for their intended use, and are delivered on schedule. Baseline Control & Document Identification

Maintain Baseline Integrity: Enforce stringent Configuration Management (CM) controls to provide accountability, traceability, and reproducibility of controlled baselines and their unique documentation packages.Administer Document & Item Identification: Manage the allocation and tracking of unique document numbers and nomenclature in accordance with program naming conventions and identification standards. Data Security & Compliance

Process Data Requests & Markings: Track and process classified and unclassified data requests; ensure proper application of Data Rights markings and security labels (e.g., CUI) in compliance with program permissions and DFARS requirements.Enforce Technical Data Rights: Review deliverables to ensure proper application of Data Rights markings (e.g., Government Purpose Rights, Unlimited Rights, Proprietary) and verify alignment with the contract statement of work. Information Management & Systems

Maintain Program Data Systems: Serve as the primary custodian for the Program Data Library and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, ensuring databases are updated, accurate, and accessible to authorized personnel.Execute Data Quality Assurance: Review program data and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to program standards. Reporting & Process Improvement

Perform Configuration Status Accounting (CSA): Generate and maintain reports detailing the current status of proposed changes, approved changes, and implementation status across the program.Develop and Track Metrics: Plan, collect data, and report on CM/DM metrics to identify trends and assist in program-level analysis.Strategic Planning: Prepare and author Configuration/Data Management Plans; assist senior specialists in program evaluations and identify opportunities to streamline CDM workflows.Perform other job-related duties, as required.Requirements

Required:

3–5+ years of experience in Configuration and Data Management, preferably within a NAVSEA, NAWCWD, or broader Department of Defense (DoD) environment.Foundational knowledge of MIL-HDBK-61 (Configuration Management Guidance), EIA-649 (National Consensus Standard for Configuration Management), and other relevant military handbooks and standards for Configuration and Data Management.Proficiency in Microsoft Products, Adobe Pro, and experience utilizing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) tools like Windchill. Familiarity with technical data rights, CUI markings, and the formal CDRL and Change Paper review and approval process.High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and facilitate technical meetings with diverse stakeholders.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree or higher and relevant certifications are preferred.

Security Clearance:

Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.Benefits
