Your Learning Journey in This RoleAs Babbel embarks on an exciting new stage of its development, the legal department is looking for a U.S.-trained legal counsel to support Babbelonians.
As a Commercial Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our business teams by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements. You will provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders while helping to identify and mitigate legal risks.
How You’ll Make an ImpactDraft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements including service agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, licensing agreements, and partnership arrangements
Advise business teams on legal implications of commercial decisions and operations
Support the development and implementation of contract templates and playbooks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance across the organization
Assist with due diligence for potential business partnerships and transactions
Help identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks
Stay current on relevant legal developments and industry trends
Your Skills and QualificationsA US law degree (and admission to practice)
3+ years of experience in commercial law, preferably in-house or at a law firm with corporate clients
Strong understanding of contract law and commercial transactions
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment
Experience in tech or start-up industry preferred but not required
A sense of humor, common sense and a good team spirit
Fluency in English (oral and written); German is a plus
