Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse will provide for the emergent and non-emergent care of patients who present to the Emergency Department at Uintah Basin Medical Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform admission assessment, record patient data in the medical record. Provide report to Emergency Department physician and Charge RN.
• Order laboratory and x-ray exams
• Check equipment on a daily basis.
• Complete inventory check daily, order supplies.
• Provide patient care based on the Utah Nurse Practice Act.
• Licensed Practical Nurses may start IVs on pediatric patients after the successful completion of PALS and under the direction of the Emergency Department Charge Nurse.
• Supervise and monitor care provided by Certified Nurse Aids and ED techs.
• Review charts, prepare charges for submission.
• Housekeeping duties as needed.
• Assist with QCI data.

• Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge.
• Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration and staff.
• Represents the organization positively and professionally in the community.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Regulatory Requirements:
• One year of Med/Surg experience or equivalent preferred.
• Current Utah State Practical Nurse license required.
• PALS, ACLS, and CPR certifications required within 1 year of hire.
