Essential Duties:
- Coordinate and oversee all inbound and outbound shipments to support production schedules, inventory requirements, and customer delivery commitments.
- Serve as the primary shipping and receiving subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to shipping personnel, warehouse staff, and cross-functional teams.
- Lead daily logistics activities, ensuring timely execution of shipping, receiving, material movement, and transportation functions.
- Schedule and manage carriers, freight providers, pickups, deliveries, export shipments, and dock appointments to optimize service levels and transportation efficiency.
- Monitor transportation performance metrics, analyze freight trends, and recommend improvements to reduce costs, improve service levels, and increase operational efficiency.
- Receive and verify raw materials, packaging materials, maintenance supplies, equipment, and vendor shipments against purchase orders, specifications, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
- Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, inventory variances, freight claims, damaged materials, shortages, and customer delivery issues while coordinating corrective actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain ownership of shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions within ERP and warehouse management systems, ensuring data accuracy and inventory integrity.
- Coordinate and prioritize shipment schedules to align with production plans, customer requirements, and inventory replenishment strategies.
- Prepare, review, and approve shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of analysis, export documentation, hazardous material paperwork, and customer-specific shipping requirements.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, international shipping regulations, import/export requirements, and company transportation policies.
- Act as the facility lead for hazardous material shipping activities, ensuring proper classification, packaging, labeling, documentation, and employee training compliance.
- Lead cycle counts, physical inventory activities, inventory reconciliations, and inventory accuracy initiatives to support operational excellence.
- Develop and maintain key shipping and logistics performance indicators, including on-time delivery, freight cost, inventory accuracy, dock utilization, carrier performance, and shipping cycle times.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership to proactively address material flow challenges and customer requirements.
- Assist management with transportation budgeting activities, freight spend analysis, carrier evaluations, and logistics cost reduction initiatives.
- Support warehouse and shipping process improvements through root cause analysis, corrective actions, workflow optimization, and implementation of best practices.
- Maintain organized shipping and receiving operations that support audit readiness, regulatory compliance, traceability requirements, and customer expectations.
- Assist with training, onboarding, and mentoring of shipping and warehouse personnel while promoting standard work and operational consistency.
- Support implementation of new logistics systems, inventory controls, process improvements, and facility expansion initiatives.
- Participate in audits, inspections, customer visits, and compliance reviews related to transportation, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the shipping and receiving function.
- Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, corrective action reviews, and risk mitigation activities.
- Perform other duties, special projects, and leadership assignments as required.
Requirements:
EDUCATION: High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED) required
EXPERIENCE: 5-10+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain within a manufacturing or chemical environment.

DOT Hazardous Materials Shipping Certification
IATA Dangerous Good Certification
Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification
