Position: HR Business Partner

Pay: $62,225 - $80,000

Location: Getzville, NY

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 37.5 hrs./week

Your Impact as an HR Business Partner

This role focuses heavily on handling time and attendance issues as well as employee relations matters.

The Senior HR Business Partner drives our mission by working with leaders across the business to ensure Summit is a great place to work for all our employees. Our team achieves results by being adaptable, innovative, driven, collaborative and trustworthy. This role is both hands-on and strategic and provides expertise in the areas of employee relations, performance management, employee retention, coaching/development, conflict management, and ad hoc projects as necessary.

Assist with day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department

• Ensure employees follow policies and procedures

• Perform administrative duties as needed

• Perform routine tasks required to assist senior leaders

• Perform assigned duties using independent judgment

• Provide assistance as needed with employee engagement efforts

• Assist with unemployment claims

Benefits Support

•

• Process accident and injury reports, including First Reports of Injury for First Aid and Workers' Compensation claims; maintain records for open claims

• Process Short-Term Disability, Paid Family Leave, and other Leave of Absence paperwork

• Process employee benefits enrollments and terminations

• Administer COBRA

• Assist with annual open enrollment

• Create monthly 401(k) enrollment files and support 401(k) processing

• Manage ACA tracking and reporting

• Assist with processing forms and tracking FMLA, PFL, ADA, PWFA

Employee Relations Support

• Assist with employee relations matters, including preparation of documentation for disciplinary actions and related issues

• Support discussion logs, warnings, terminations, disputes, investigations, and orientation as needed

• Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors; refer complex or sensitive matters to appropriate HR staff

• Process unemployment claims

• Attend and participate in meetings and programs including, but not limited to, Summit Academy, OPWDD, and Discovery Kids

Regulatory compliance

• Conduct pre-employment screenings in compliance with FCRA, Article 23-A, Justice Center, and other regulatory requirements

• Maintain records and ensure compliance for OCFS and EI, including background checks, employee physicals, and TB testing

• Manage Safety Committee meetings, including scheduling and agenda preparation

Recruitment and Onboarding Support

• Assist with recruitment process from opening a requisition through making an offer

• Ensure new hire background checks and credentials are in compliance with company policies

• Process new hires through the onboarding process

• Track and process internal job changes

HRIS System Assistance

• Maintain accuracy of information in the HRIS system, including employment status changes and benefits deductions

• Track sick time and tardiness for OPWDD employees

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in an HR Generalist role or in a role managing multiple complex HR tasks.

CERTIFICATES:PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
