Responsibilities and Duties
• Wear and maintain assigned character costume in a professional and appropriate manner.
• Character grooming and maintenance as guided by the Entertainment Staff.
• Interact with guests in character through friendly gestures, movement, and playful engagement.
• Greet guests, pose for photos, and engage with children, families, and guests of all ages.
• Help create positive, memorable experiences that reflect the spirit of Callaway Gardens.
• Follow performance guidelines, character behaviors, and guest interaction standards.
• Remain in character while in public view and maintain consistent energy and enthusiasm.
• Answer basic guest questions or direct guests to appropriate locations or staff when needed (as Character escort)Work independently while managing time, location assignments, and guest flow.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including costume safety, guest boundaries, and heat/comfort protocols.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding breaks, needs, or any guest concerns.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods of time.
• Ability to wear a character costume for scheduled shifts, including in outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to perform light physical movement such as waving, gesturing, bending, and posing for photos.
• Ability to work in warm or cool temperatures while maintaining energy and guest engagement.
• All Characters will assist as Character Escorts when not in Character.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Previous Mascot or Character experience requested but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
• Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Ability to remain flexible and adapt to the changing needs of events.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate event schedules is required.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods of time.
• Ability to wear a Character costume for scheduled shifts, including outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to perform light physical movement such as waiving, gesturing, bending, and posing for photos.
• Ability to work in warm or cool temperatures while maintaining energy and guest engagement.
• Candidates must be between 5'1” and 6'1” with trim to athletic builds to be considered for the costumed characters. Modifications are not able to be made for the costumes.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces (Costume) with limited sight, and or mobility.
• Comfortable working in costume while navigating large crowds.
