Position Summary:
This position is responsible for management of all safety and environmental compliance issues related to OSHA, EPA, federal, state and local agencies. This position will possess a high level of authority in regards to training & guiding employees based on safety needs with the goal of eliminating workplace accidents/injuries/illnesses, reducing work related injury costs, and complying with all environmental, safety and health laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee continuous improvement related to the EHS & Sustainability program.
• Act as the liaison between Davis-Standard and regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and other local agencies.
• Manage non-conformities resulting from inspections.
• Develop and implement consistent policies, procedures, best practices, training, and budget to ensure overall EHS compliance.
• Manage the development, monitoring, and reporting of EHS key performance indicators and provide benchmark data to better understand Davis-Standard's EHS performance and improvement opportunities.
• Oversee compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, permits, rules and laws, pertaining to Davis-Standard operations at the Pawcatuck CT site.
• Develop and implement employee training in areas such as EHS regulation compliance, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of various safety equipment.
• Ensure local supervisors and leaders have the support and tools to ensure compliance at their facilities.
• Implement EHS continuing education and training programs for managers and supervisors.
• Perform EHS compliance assessments and develop action plans to correct deficiencies.
• Oversee investigations and root cause assessments for all EHS incidents and near misses that occur at the Pawcatuck CT site.
• Implement procedures to identify, evaluate, and correct hazardous conditions and practices.
• Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals as well as Davis-Standard policies and procedures.
• Assess and propose sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.
• Monitor, and track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling.
• Develop reports or presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
• Other related duties as determined necessary to support the EHS function.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Through education and experience must have the knowledge and ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
• Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health administration regulations and environmental regulation.
• Bachelor degree preferably in Industrial Health and Safety, Environmental sciences or engineering or other business related discipline.
• 5+ Years in an Environmental / Safety role in a Manufacturing Environment.
