POSITION SUMMARY - WATER OPERATOR C
The Water Operator C is a field position within the Water Treatment Division, working under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator. This position operates and maintains the municipal water treatment plant, performing the tasks required to treat and distribute a safe, adequate water supply for the general public, businesses, and industry.
This is an entry-level operating role in the plant operator series, applying general knowledge of treatment processes to support plant operations, and referring complex process issues to senior operators or the Chief Plant Operator.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Plant Operations - Operate and maintain the municipal water treatment plant to help produce and distribute an adequate supply of safe, treated water for the general public, businesses, and industry.
• Supply Monitoring - Record and monitor water supply and storage levels, staying aware of system needs and demands at all times.
• Regulatory Compliance - Monitor plant operations and processes to help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and to maintain water quality standards.
• Testing and Recordkeeping - Perform chemical and biological testing and analysis as required by regulatory agencies, and maintain accurate logs and records of water quality and quantity.
• Troubleshooting - Identify, diagnose, and correct routine treatment process issues, including chemical dosage, raw flow, and pump adjustments, referring complex issues to senior operators.
• Maintenance Support - Assist in treatment plant and pump station maintenance or repairs as needed.
• Customer Service - Respond to customer complaints and maintain detailed records.
• Additional Duties - This role may require taking on responsibilities outside of those listed above as operational needs evolve. Duties and priorities may shift at any time with or without notice.

• Communication - Good math, logic, and reasoning skills; ability to read and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding directives and assignments.
• Recordkeeping - Ability to maintain accurate and complete records documenting the status and performance of the treatment plant and distribution system.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED, some college preferred.
• Valid Class C Surface Water Treatment Operator License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
• Minimum one (1) year of operating experience within a surface water treatment plant.

POSITION SUMMARY - WATER OPERATOR B
The Water Operator B is a field position within the Water Treatment Division, working under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator. This position operates and maintains the municipal water treatment plant performing the tasks required to treat and distribute a safe, adequate water supply for the public, businesses, and industry.
This is a mid-level operating role in the plant operator series, applying working knowledge of treatment processes and regulatory requirements to keep Mansfield's water supply safe and reliable, escalating the most complex process issues to senior operators or the Chief Plant Operator.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Plant Operations - Operate and maintain the municipal water treatment plant to produce and distribute an adequate supply of safe, treated water for the public, businesses, and industry.
• Supply Monitoring - Record and monitor water supply and storage levels, staying aware of system needs and demands at all times.

The Water Operator A is a field position within the Water Treatment Division, working under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator. This position operates and maintains the municipal water treatment plant, performing the full range of tasks required to treat and distribute a safe, adequate water supply for the public, businesses, and industry.
This role is the senior role in the plant operator series, applying advanced technical knowledge of treatment processes and regulatory requirements to keep Mansfield's water safe and reliable, and helps to develop less experienced operators.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Plant Operations - Operate and maintain the municipal water treatment plant to produce and distribute an adequate supply of safe, treated water for the public, businesses, and industry.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Technology and Instrumentation - Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical apparatus and process instrumentation; strong knowledge of SCADA systems and standard office software.
• Regulatory Knowledge - Extensive knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations of the operation, maintenance, and reporting of a surface water treatment plant and distribution system.
• Analytical Skills - Strong math, logic, and reasoning skills to interpret data and troubleshoot.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
• Valid Class A Water Treatment Operator License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
• Five (5) years of operating experience within a surface water treatment plant.
• Additional training or experience in a related field that provides public safety through safe drinking water and adequate supply.
• Associate's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily at the water treatment plant, with regular exposure to varying weather conditions in both indoor and outdoor areas. Water treatment operations run 24 hours a day, and shift assignments, including nights, weekends, and holidays, are an essential function of this position to maintain continuous plant operation.
The physical demands of this position are consistent with medium work. The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly in the course of moving objects, operating equipment, and performing plant maintenance tasks.
The employee must be able to move about the treatment plant and between work areas, including accessing elevated platforms and equipment areas; operate valves, pumps, control panels, and treatment equipment; move through narrow aisles and passageways; and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors regarding plant operations.
This position is subject to exposure to extreme heat (temperatures above 100°F for periods exceeding one hour) and extreme cold (temperatures below 32°F for periods exceeding one hour), with consideration for the combined effects of wind and humidity. The employee will regularly encounter indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, elevated noise levels, and atmospheric conditions including fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
Additional hazards include proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, elevated work areas, and chemicals common to water treatment operations. These conditions are inherent to the role and represent essential functions of the position. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
