JUNIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center El Paso, TX

Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center is hiring a Legal Assistant to provide case management support and expand our capacity to serve and support immigrants facing removal.

Las Americas is a nationally-recognized organization that provides high-quality legal services, advocacy, and support to detained and non-detained individuals in El Paso, Texas, and southern New Mexico. Since 1987, we have represented over 50,000 individuals while advocating for systemic change through impact litigation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Case Management and Client Support: Assist attorneys and legal staff with case preparation, including gathering and organizing evidence, intakes, detention center visits, and preparing legal filings. Maintain accurate case files and client records in the case management system.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience. Experience: 0 - 2 years as a legal assistant. Prior experience in a legal or client-facing administrative role preferred but not required. Skills and Values: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure; compassionate, trauma-informed approach to client interactions; deep commitment to social justice and immigrant rights. Language: Professional fluency in English and Spanish is required. Location: Must work locally out of the El Paso, TX office.

SALARY AND BENEFITS $35,000 to $42,000, commensurate with experience; health insurance with employer contributions; flexible/hybrid schedule; and generous PTO.
