About this role

Organizational Development Advisor

Project Description: Organizations across Georgia are seeking support to strengthen internal processes, systems, and staff capacity so they can more effectively deliver on their missions. Nonprofit organizations play an important role in Georgia’s social, economic, and community development by supporting marginalized groups. Despite their stated missions and adaptability, many face ongoing challenges related to a restrictive legislative environment, limited funding, high staff turnover, and insufficient access to professional development. These challenges make it difficult to build strong internal systems, develop efficient processes, and sustain long-term growth. Gaps in planning, workflow management, and resource development slow the creation of effective programs and reduce opportunities for staff engagement, motivation, and retention. Without stronger organizational structures, these organizations struggle to maintain consistent services and advance initiatives that respond to community needs. As an Organizational Development Advisor, you will collaborate with mission-driven organizations to identify opportunities to improve operations, design more effective programs, and secure critical resources. By strengthening staff capacity, you’ll help organizations deliver higher-quality initiatives, reach more people, and expand opportunities for those they serve. Your collaborative efforts will contribute to more resilient communities and improved social and economic outcomes—especially for populations that have been historically marginalized.

Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, including social science, education, business, management and organizational development. AND Three or more years of technical expertise in organizational capacity development and training, strategic planning, or results-based project management and reporting.

Living Conditions: Volunteers may begin their service living with a host family or in independent housing, depending on options available. Semi‑urban and urban communities across regions are well connected by minibuses and taxis. Worksite travel typically ranges from 20–45 minutes. Access to basic services is widely available.

Job Highlights: Gain international experience strengthening organizational systems and management practices to enable organizations to fulfill their missions with greater effectiveness and reach. Develop Georgian language proficiency through immersive, daily conversations. Expand your professional network by developing lasting connections with Georgian colleagues.

Activities: Support strategic planning and strategy implementation. Enhance the design and management of monitoring and evaluation tools. Identify individual and private-sector donors, fundraising event opportunities, and other instruments of funding. Strengthen proposal planning and writing practices, including the adoption of structured and sustainable processes. Design and deliver professional development workshops focused on presentations, reporting, and business writing. Support professional English language learning and development. You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as leading community financial literacy workshops or facilitating adult English clubs.

Training: After a three-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to a semi-urban or an urban community where you will collaborate with nonprofit organization, educational institution, or a youth center. You will work with the partner and your community to assess the organizational needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals.

Peace Corps/Georgia will equip you with Georgian language resources and you may work with a tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
