About this role

English Education Trainer

Project Description: Schools and higher education institutions across Georgia are seeking to strengthen English learning and enrich students’ educational experiences.

English proficiency is increasingly important for youth and adults as Georgia navigates a complex development environment and responds to rapidly shifting labor market demands. Professional colleges, universities, education resource centers, and public schools are often the most accessible providers of free education, yet many students struggle to build strong, functional English skills. Wide variations in student proficiency, limited learning resources, and the slow adoption of interactive teaching methods make it difficult to meet curriculum requirements—especially in vocational programs. These gaps hinder students’ academic progress and employment opportunities.

As an English Education Trainer, you will help learners strengthen their English skills and develop the practical competencies needed for future employability and entrepreneurship. Working alongside local educators, you will design English learning projects and creative activities that give students more opportunities to practice and apply the language. Together, you will create motivating learning environments that equip Georgians to thrive in a changing labor market and connect with expanding international opportunities.

Required Skills: Bachelor's or master's degree in education, preferably with a focus in curriculum or instruction. AND Teaching certification or license with two or more years of relevant experience, including teaching and curriculum development.

Living Conditions: Volunteers may begin their service living with a host family or in independent housing, depending on options available. Semi‑urban and urban communities across regions are well connected by minibuses and taxis. Worksite travel typically ranges from 20–45 minutes. Access to basic services is widely available.

Job Highlights: Gain international teaching experience that opens pathways in global education, training, and development. Develop Georgian language proficiency through immersive, daily conversations. Exchange knowledge with Georgian educators while expanding your professional network.

Activities: Teach engaging, student-centered English language classes alongside English teachers. Develop learning activities using advanced teaching methodologies. Identify, create, and organize teaching resources that support effective instruction. Help English teachers incorporate technology and digital platforms into their lessons. Initiate student enrichment activities, such as English clubs, camps, competitions, presentations, and workshops. Help identify information and resources that connect schools with local and international project opportunities and partnerships. Design and conduct English language classes for teachers, staff and community members as needed. You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as supporting community English language camps or field trips.

Training: After a three-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to a semi-urban or urban community where you will collaborate with staff at one of the Ministry’s professional colleges, universities, education resource centers, or schools. You will work with the partner and your community to assess the educational needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals. Peace Corps/Georgia will equip you with Georgian language resources and you may work with a tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
