About this role

Youth Development Trainer

Project Description: Organizations across Georgia are eager to collaborate with motivated and creative youth professionals to enhance youth programming and training. Investing in young people is becoming increasingly critical as Georgia faces demographic shifts and a declining youth population. The age-dependency ratio is projected to rise from 20% to 48% by 2055, and without increased youth productivity to sustain long‑term economic growth, the country risks future tax deficits and rising poverty. Meanwhile, schools struggle to provide non-formal education, and after-school programs are often limited or non-existent. Despite non-governmental organizations, select educational institutions, and youth centers working to fill this gap, many young people, especially in rural and remote areas, have limited opportunities to develop leadership, volunteerism, critical thinking, self‑reflection, career orientation, entrepreneurial skills, and language competency. A lack of infrastructure and limited awareness of available programs further

restrict access, creating long-term implications for communities across Georgia. As a Youth Development Trainer, you will collaborate with organizations to design, expand, and strengthen youth development programs that reach diverse communities, including underserved rural areas. Together, you will create welcoming learning environments and encourage active youth participation in community life.

Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, or a relevant field. AND Three or more years of relevant experience, such as working in local communities, community advocacy, community outreach and engagement, or youth participation.

Living Conditions: Volunteers may begin their service living with a host family or in independent housing, depending on options available. Semi‑urban and urban communities across regions are well‑connected by minibuses and taxis. Worksite travel typically ranges from 20–45 minutes. Access to basic services is widely available.

Job Highlights: Expand your youth development experience by applying community-based strategies and tools in a new country. Develop Georgian language proficiency through immersive, daily conversations. Make a lasting impact in young people’s lives while experiencing a new culture.

Activities: Assess and support the enhancement of youth programming. Design and facilitate student clubs or camps that strengthen English language proficiency, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy. Conduct English-based learning activities for children and young adults. Strengthen professional development opportunities and career management practices. Conduct weekly training to strengthen employees’ English and digital skills. Plan and facilitate activities that support in-country and international youth projects. You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as coordinating interregional or international youth skills development and leadership activities.

Training: After a three-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to a semi-urban or an urban community where you will collaborate with local government, a nonprofit organization, educational institution, or a youth center. You will work with the partner and your community to assess the local needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals. Peace Corps/Georgia will equip you with Georgian language resources and you may work with a tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
