Visa Information: TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
Position Description: Employees in this classification are responsible for providing and overseeing nursing care at Bell County Juvenile Jail in Killeen, Texas. The position implements unit objectives and administrative policies and provides clinical leadership to nursing staff. This position operates under the supervision of the Senior Director.ng.
Major/Essential Functions: • Clinical Operations Oversight: Ensures compliance with organizational, state, and regulatory clinical standards. Maintains 100% shift coverage with an appropriate staff skill mix and ensures timely completion of patient care responsibilities each shift. • Staff Supervision and Development: Provides effective supervision, coaching, and support to nursing staff. Ensures annual performance evaluations are completed by established deadlines and that coaching and corrective actions are appropriately documented when performance concerns are identified. • Quality and Compliance: Maintains a minimum audit score of 98% on applicable internal and external compliance reviews and promptly addresses identified deficiencies. • Clinical Care and Documentation: Ensures timely response to sick-call requests and completion of required clinical documentation. Supports an average emergency response time of two minutes from notification to arrival, when applicable. • Patient Care Coordination: Identifies and appropriately escalates high-risk patients through established clinical and organizational escalation channels. • Communication and Reporting: Ensures incident reports are submitted within established reporting timeframes and that shift handoff reports are completed accurately and timely. Participates in required leadership, clinical, and operational meetings. • Other Duties as Assigned: Demonstrates flexibility in supporting operational needs, including cross-coverage and special assignments. Maintains performance standards consistent with primary job responsibilities when performing additional duties.
Occasional Duties: • Participates in special projects, quality improvement initiatives, audits, training, and other operational activities as assigned. • Provides cross-coverage for nursing operations as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned in support of facility and organizational operations.
Required Qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited nursing program. • Possession of a current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing. • Minimum of two years of professional nursing experience, including experience serving in a charge nurse, lead nurse, or comparable nursing leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working in a correctional healthcare setting. • Experience supervising nursing staff in a complex or high-acuity healthcare environment.
