Salary: £40,000 - 48,000 per year
Requirements: An engineering qualification in electronics, electrical, mechatronics or manufacturing, a completed engineering apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experienceExperience supporting electronic or electromechanical products in a production or manufacturing environmentStrong build and test fault-finding skillsAbility to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and bills of materialsPractical experience with soldering, rework and wiring harness assemblyConfidence using oscilloscopes, multimeters and bench power suppliesExperience producing clear technical documentation and maintaining it under version controlA structured approach to problem-solving and root cause analysisExperience with new product introduction, test fixture design, engineering change control, ERP/MRP systems or lean manufacturing would be beneficialFamiliarity with IPC workmanship standards, ESD controls, basic CAD and interfaces such as RS232, RS485, USB or Ethernet would be useful Responsibilities: Provide first-line engineering support for electronic and electromechanical assembly and testingDiagnose faults at the bench, resolve production issues and escalate problems requiring design changesCreate and maintain assembly instructions, test procedures and other production documentationDesign, build and maintain test jigs, wiring harnesses and test equipmentUpdate bills of materials and support engineering change controlLead the production side of new product introduction, helping products move from design handover into manufactureWork with quality and purchasing teams to investigate component and assembly issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actionsImprove build consistency, test coverage and production efficiency Technologies: ERPEthernetHardwareSupport More:
We are recruiting a Hardware Production Support Engineer for an established technology manufacturer whose products support customers in critical operational environments. This hands-on role is based on the production floor in Scunthorpe and reports to the Engineering Manager. It is a full-time, permanent, onsite position with a 37.5-hour week and occasional travel to Sheffield. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality colleagues, taking ownership of the tools, documentation and processes production relies on and helping improve specialist hardware reliability and how new products are built and tested.
